Dhaka, Sept. 17 -- Leaders of Islamic parties and clerics from the UlamaMashayekhAimmaParishad have called for the appointment of religious teachers in all primary schools across the country.

The demand was raised at a national seminar held Tuesday at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka, under the theme "Mandatory Recruitment of Religious Teachers in All Primary Schools of the Country."

Addressing the event, IslamiAndolan Bangladesh Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim said that primary schools are losing students due to declining educational standards, leading children to suffer from "mental and moral deficiencies."
