Dhaka, Dec. 7 -- As temperatures begin to drop across the country, health experts and government officials are urging families to take extra precautions to protect children and older people from cold related diseases.

"Cold weather increases risk of respiratory infections such as pneumonia, influenza, asthma attacks, and common colds - illnesses that can become serious, especially for young children and the elderly," Additional Director General (Planning and Development) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr. Sheikh Sayidul Haque told BSS.

He has called upon all to maintain precautions during the movement and in the food habit to get protected from the cold related diseases.
