Dhaka, May 11 -- Buddha Purnima, the most sacred and significant religious festival of the Buddhist community, will be observed across the country tomorrow with traditional enthusiasm and solemn religious devotion.

Recognized as the holiest day in Buddhism, Buddha Purnima also marks the International Vesak Day, as designated by the United Nations in 2000.

The festival commemorates three profound events in the life of Gautama Buddha that occurred on this very day: his birth as Siddhartha Gautama, his attainment of supreme enlightenment, and his passing into Nirvana-the ultimate liberation from worldly desire. This day holds deep spiritual significance for Buddhists around the globe.
