Dhaka, Nov. 11 -- A chilling act of violence shook Old Dhaka on Monday morning when Saif Mamun (38) was shot dead in broad daylight in front of the Dhaka National Medical College Hospital.
Police described the killing as a planned and swift execution carried out by unidentified assailants. Ahsan Uddin Sami, Deputy Commissioner of the Lalbagh Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the incident and said Mamun had long been involved in organised crime and was known as one of Old Dhaka's most feared gang leaders. "CCTV footage shows two assailants arriving on a motorcycle and firing several rounds before fleeing the scene," Sami said.
