Dhaka, Aug. 5 -- Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and a distinguished professor from the Department of Physics at the University of Dhaka, has been elected as a Council Member of the globally renowned higher education body-the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

Founded in 1913, the ACU is the oldest and one of the most prestigious international organizations dedicated to promoting cooperation, quality enhancement, and expansion in higher education among Commonwealth countries.

The organization currently has over 400 member universities representing diverse nations across the Commonwealth.
