Dhaka, Oct. 23 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) did not demand the reinstatement of a caretaker government during its recent meeting with the interim administration but rather called for an impartial role from the current government during the forthcoming national election, Law Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul said yesterday.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the adviser clarified that BNP's position was to seek neutrality in governance, not structural changes to the existing interim setup.

"What I understood from the discussion is that the BNP did not ask for a caretaker government. They said the interim government should act neutrally, like a caretaker government," Asif Nazrul explained.
