Dhaka, May 18 -- BNP senior leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Sunday accused the government of neglecting its primary responsibility of arranging the national election, saying it is preoccupied with matters beyond its mandate.

Speaking to reporters at a city hotel, Khosru said, "The government is focused on everything except the election. Why aren't they doing what they are supposed to do? They should immediately announce an election roadmap, allocate time for the process, and concentrate fully on holding the polls."
