Dhaka, Nov. 5 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday halted the nomination of Kamal Zaman Mollah for Madaripur-1 due to protests and a road blockade.

Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi conveyed the announcement in a media statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, "Due to unavoidable reasons, the nomination for Madaripur-1 and the selected candidate's name have been suspended."

"The names of party nominees for 237 parliamentary seats were announced, including Mollah for Madaripur-1 (Shibchar Upazila) at a media briefing on Monday.
