Dhaka, April 20 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), serving as the main opposition, voiced stern criticism against the Awami League government on Friday.

Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that the current administration, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is devoid of popular support, compelling it to suppress opposition voices through autocratic means.

During a sit-in at the National Press Club organized by Zia Projanmo Dal, demanding the release of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and other detained leaders, Rizvi articulated his concerns.
