India, Jan. 8 -- The biting cold has been taking a toll on children across Khulna and neighboring districts, leading to a surge in winter-related and waterborne illnesses. In the past three days, 195 children have been admitted to Khulna Divisional Children's Hospital, while around 1,400 received outpatient care.
Hospital sources reported that children from 10 districts in the region are falling ill with fever, cold, cough, cold diarrhea, stomach pain, and pneumonia due to the harsh winter. Many parents are bringing their children to Khulna for specialized treatment.
