Dhaka, Feb. 6 -- Bangladesh has imported molasses from Pakistan for the first time through Mongla Port.

The Panama-flagged vessel MT Dolphin-19 arrived at Mongla Port this morning, carrying 5,500 tonnes of molasses from Karachi Port, Pakistan. Unloading of the sweet product began on Thursday afternoon.

Mongla Port Authority Deputy Director Md Makruzzaman said the vessel departed from Karachi Port on January 22. The importer, Padma Feed and Chicks Limited, is overseeing the unloading process at Mongla Port, reports BSS.

Once unloaded, the molasses will be transported from Mongla to Baghabari in Sirajganj via road and waterway. From there, it will be distributed to various centres across the country.
