Dhaka, Jan. 28 -- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will support FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia, son of the late Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman, as he embarks on a series of prestigious international chess tournaments.
Tahsin, this year will play three tournaments - World Junior Under-20 Chess Championship in Petrovac, Montenegro, Asian Zonal Chess Championship in Sri Lanka and Grand Masters and International Masters Events in Hungary.
In a statement today, the BCB revealed that they will provide financial assistance of Tk. 15.8 lakh to cover the associated costs of his participation in these three events. 19-year old Tahsin is a rising star in the chess arena and is committed to building upon the legacy of his father.
