Dhaka, July 1 -- All banks and capital markets across Bangladesh will remain closed on Tuesday, 1 July, as the new fiscal year 2025-26 begins.
The closure is in observance of the annual bank holiday, during which banks and financial institutions complete their year-end account settlements and book closures.
As a result, no banking services will be available to clients throughout the day.
Consequently, trading activities at both the Dhaka Stock Exchange and the Chittagong Stock Exchange will also remain suspended, as financial transactions are not possible while banks are shut.
While the government follows a fiscal year from 1 July to 30 June, banks operate on a financial calendar from 1 January to 31 December.
