Dhaka, Nov. 30 -- A Bangladeshi man was shot dead by India's Border Security Force (BSF) inside Indian territory along the Goyespur border in Chuadanga's Jibonananda upazila on Saturday, according to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The deceased identified as Shahidul Islam, 37, was the son of Loskor Ali from Goyespur village.
Lt Col Rafiqul Alam, commanding officer of BGB's Maheshpur-58 Battalion, said the BSF officially confirmed the death around 8pm.
He said a group of alleged smugglers entered about 200 yards inside India near the 70th main pillar this afternoon "to bring in illegal drugs."
"BSF personnel opened fire on them, leaving Shahidul Islam injured. We learned that the BSF took him into their custody," Lt Col Rafiqul added...
