Dhaka, July 19 -- Bangladesh Under-19 got off to a strong start in their South Africa (SA) tour, defeating the hosts by a massive 130 runs in the opening match on Thursday.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted an imposing total of 290 for 6 in 50 overs, riding on a trio of half-centuries from Zawad Abrar (70 off 61), Rizan Hossain (63 off 55), and Md Abdullah (63 off 76).
Opener Zawad was in full flow with nine boundaries and two sixes before falling to JJ Basson, who was the standout bowler for South Africa with figures of 4/47 in 10 overs. Skipper Azizul Hakim contributed 26, while Farid Hasan Faysal (16*) and Debasish Sarkar (18*) provided a useful late push.
