Jatri Kalyan Samiti has urged the government to impose a ban on unfit vehicles across roads, railways, and waterways during Eid travel to minimize accidents, traffic congestion, and public suffering.
In a statement sent to the media on Thursday, the association's Secretary General, Md Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, raised concerns over the influx of unfit vehicles during Eid, which significantly increases travel risks.
According to the statement, each year, unfit buses, trucks, human haulers (leguna), three-wheelers (tempo), microbuses, and locally assembled vehicles such as Nasimon-Karimon are deployed for long-distance travel.
