Dhaka, June 20 -- Asad Alam Siam, a 15th batch officer of the BCS (Foreign Affairs Cadre), has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh.

He will serve as the country's 28th Foreign Secretary.The decision was announced in a notification issued on Thursday by the Administration Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the directive of the President.

According to the notification, Asad Alam Siam will serve as Foreign Secretary until further orders. The appointment will come into effect from Friday.
