Dhaka, Nov. 4 -- A vessel transporting approximately 61,000 tonnes of wheat from the United States has reached the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port, marking another milestone in Bangladesh's ongoing wheat import programme under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement.

This was confirmed in a press release by Imdad Islam, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Food.

The MV SPAR ARIES, carrying 60,802 metric tonnes of wheat, arrived under the cash purchase agreement between the U.S. and Bangladesh, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two governments.

This shipment is part of a broader plan to import a total of 440,000 metric tonnes of wheat from the United States this year.
