Dhaka, June 19 -- A Dhaka court has granted separate remands for two former ministers in connection with cases filed over incidents during anti-discrimination protests. Former Law Minister Anisul Huq has been placed on a five-day remand and former Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain on a three-day remand.

The orders were issued on Wednesday by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Mizbahur Rahman following hearings on police remand petitions in two separate cases filed with Shahbag and Paltan Model Police Stations.

Anisul Huq was shown arrested in a case filed over the killing of jhut (scrap textile) trader Md. Monir during a protest in Shahbag, and police sought a 10-day remand for his interrogation.
