Dhaka, Nov. 1 -- Sylhet district has witnessed a bumper yield of Aman paddy this time. The golden paddy ears are now shining like the dreams of farmers across the fields of 13 upazilas of the district.
The local agriculture department said that this year's Aman cultivation has been very successful due to favorable weather, timely rainfall and proper advice from the agriculture department.
On-site inspection showed that Aman paddy has taken on a yellow color in the haor lands of most areas of the district.
Aman paddy harvesting will begin within the next 2 to 3 weeks. However, harvesting of early varieties of Aman paddy has begun in some areas.
