Dhaka, Sept. 6 -- Kiran Rao's last film 'Lapata Ladies' was praised by the audience and critics after its release on Netflix India.

The simplicity of story, sincerity of acting and women-centric message - all of them made the film a great response on digital platforms.

However, despite garnering praise on OTT, the film could not touch the Rs 21 crore marks at the theatres.

Kiran claims, "Before the OTT release, there was very little time to promote the film. When it came on Netflix, that praise spread even more, which also affected the theatres' revenue."
