Dhaka, May 10 -- Dr Asif Nazrul, Adviser on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, has stated that there is no legal impediment to banning the Awami League (AL), citing provisions in existing laws such as the Anti-Terrorism Act.
In a post published on his verified Facebook account on Friday, the law adviser said, "There is no disagreement among advisers about taking action against the Awami League.
Views may differ regarding the procedure, but if required, the ICT Act can be amended within days. Existing legislation, including the Anti-Terrorism Act, is sufficient to impose a ban on the party.
