Dhaka, April 30 -- Mohammedan Sporting Club built their squad for the 2024-25 Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket season with high hopes and a hefty budget. But despite all their ambition, the historic Motijheel-based club fell short. On the final day of the Super League, a six-wicket defeat to arch-rivals Abahani Limited dashed their title hopes at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Under the leadership of Hannan Sarkar and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Abahani celebrated a third consecutive DPL title. Since the league gained List A status, this marks their seventh title and 24th overall in Premier League history.
