Dhaka, March 6 -- The government has announced the names of seven out of nine recipients of the Independence Award 2025, honouring their remarkable contributions at the national level. The names of the remaining two awardees have not yet been disclosed.

According to sources, the honourees include-Commander-in-Chief of the Liberation War MAG Osmani (posthumous), pop legend Azam Khan (posthumous), poet Al Mahmud (posthumous), leftist politician and intellectual Badruddin Umar, BRAC founder Fazle Hasan Abed (posthumous), sculptor Novera Ahmed (posthumous), and BUET student Abrar Fahad (posthumous).
