Dhaka, May 11 -- International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) observed the 8th death anniversary of its founder and first Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. M. Alimullah Miyan, on Saturday.
Born on February 15, 1942, in Cumilla, Dr. Miyan passed away on May 10, 2017. A proud son of a valiant freedom fighter's family, he was the younger brother of the late Bir Protik Colonel Shafique Ullah. Professor Miyan was a visionary pioneer who introduced the concept of private universities in Bangladesh, opening a new chapter in the country's higher education landscape. In January 1991, under his leadership, IUBAT was established as the first non-government university in Bangladesh.
