Dhaka, Dec. 5 -- A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck China's Xinjiang region on Thursday afternoon, shaking areas near Akqi County close to the Kyrgyzstan border, according to regional seismic authorities.
The quake hit at 3:44 pm local time (0744 GMT), with preliminary reports placing its depth at around 10 kilometers - considered shallow and typically associated with stronger surface-level impacts.
So far, no casualties or significant structural damage have been reported. Emergency response teams have been deployed to the affected areas.and officials are continuing to monitor aftershocks.
