Dhaka, March 17 -- The central committee formed by the Home Ministry to review politically motivated and harassing cases has recommended the withdrawal of 6,202 cases, according to an official media release issued on Sunday.

The committee, led by Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Professor Asif Nazrul, has convened eight meetings to assess and determine the merit of cases for withdrawal.

During these meetings, a total of 6,295 case withdrawal proposals were submitted for review.

According to the statement, many of the cases under consideration were filed during the 15-year tenure of the ousted government.

These cases were deemed to be politically motivated or designed to harass opposition figures.
