At least 50 people were injured and several shops and houses were vandalised in a violent clash between two rival groups in Bhairab port town of Kishoreganj on Tuesday night. The dispute arose over the formation of a local mosque committee in the Chandib area.
Sources said tension had been building for the past few days between the residents of Mir Bari and Kazi Bari over who would take control of the mosque committee. On Tuesday night, prominent individuals from both sides met to discuss the issue in an effort to reach a resolution.
