Dhaka, July 5 -- A Dhaka court on Tuesday sent five individuals to jail for allegedly impersonating senior Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) officials and extorting money from victims by falsely promising to resolve corruption cases.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jennifer Jerin passed the order after their two-day remand concluded, rejecting their bail pleas.

The accused - Selim (40), Md Tarikul Islam (40), Md Atik (38), Md Abdul Hai Sohag (35), and Md Sohag Patwari (40) - were presented before the court by Sub-Inspector Md Masud Rana of Ramna Model Police Station, who requested they be held in custody.
