Dhaka, July 20 -- At least five persons died on Saturday (19 July) after reportedly drinking excessive amounts of spurious locally brewed liquor in Khulna's Sonadanga.

The deceased have been identified as Babu, 50, Sabu, 60, Goutam Kumar Biswas, 47, Azibor, 59, and Tota, 60. All of them were inhabitants of Khulna's Boyra area.

Another individual Sonu, 58, remains in critical condition and is currently on life support at Khulna Specialised Hospital, according to hospital sources.

"The incident took place on Saturday evening at the Boyra Puja Khola intersection area in the city," Sonadanga Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Hai told the media.

The bodies will be sent for autopsy and legal action will follow based on the finding...
