Dhaka, Aug. 28 -- 49th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was observed with due respect at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) on Wednesday. In the morning, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, on behalf of the university family, paid tribute by placing floral wreaths at the poet's sculpture. A minute of silence was also observed for the eternal peace of the poet's soul.

In a brief speech, the Vice-Chancellor said, "We must take lessons from the poet's works and reflect them in our lives. Unfortunately, enough research on Nazrul has not been done yet. Our Institute of Nazrul Studies and the Centre for Research and Extension should play a stronger role in this regard."
