Dhaka, Sept. 16 -- Some 420 Rohingya people have become victims of human trafficking in last two years from Cox's Bazar areas despite monitoring on their movement, according to an assessment of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

The IOM presented a paper at a consultative workshop at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday with Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque inaugurating it.

According to IOM's information, the trafficking situation in Cox's Bazar district has worsened since the beginning of the latest Rohingya influx in August 2017 and the total number of victims is 420 till June 2019.

Common people are also being trafficked from Bangladesh alongside Rohingya refugees, added the IOM.
