Dhaka, Aug. 25 -- Karsten Warholm set the second-fastest 400m hurdles performance of all time at the Bauhaus Galan Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm on Sunday, as the Norwegian clocked 46.87 seconds to break his own European record, just 0.09 off the world record.

Warholm should have had the chance to break Kevin Young's 46.78 world record which was set at the Barcelona Olympic Games 28 years ago, but the 24-year-old clipped the final barrier.

"I hit that last hurdle because I went really hard for the first nine, and stuff like this happens," said Warholm, who had a 47.10 performance to open his season in Monaco just over one week ago.
