Dhaka, Oct. 28 -- Four factories at the Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Nilphamari have been shut down following a wave of workers' unrest.

The protest erupted on Monday, as workers demonstrated over wage discrimination and poor working conditions, leading to several clashes with police.

Workers alleged that they have long been facing issues such as low wages, unpaid overtime, lack of medical facilities, and inadequate access to safe drinking water and proper lunch spaces.

They claimed that repeated complaints to the authorities went unheeded.
