Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- The government has sent 22 Deputy Commissioners (DCs) into compulsory retirement. These officials had previously served as returning officers in the 2014 and 2018 national elections.

Public Administration Ministry's Senior Secretary Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman made the announcement to the media on Thursday at the secretariat.

He said, "The government has issued a gazette notification enforcing the compulsory retirement of 22 Deputy Commissioners (DCs), all of whom had served as returning officers in past national elections.

"Among the DCs who oversaw the 2014 elections, only four remained in service. These four, along with 18 others who served in the 2018 elections, have now been retired as part of this administrative move...
