Two schoolgirls drowned while bathing in the Narshundha River in Kishoreganj 's karimganj upazila on n Wednesday noon.
The incident took place at Ashtaka Manikpur village in Gundhar union of karimganj Upazila.
The deceased are Saifa (10), daughter of Ratan Mia in Dakshin Ashtaka village of Karimganj upazila, and Maymuna (9), daughter of Ekhlas Miah of the same area.
Saifa is a student of class Four in Dakshin Ashtaka Government Primary School, and Maymuna is a third-grade student of the same school.
Police and relatives of the deceased children said that on Wednesday afternoon, two children, Saifa and Maymuna, were playing near their house.
