Dhaka, May 22 -- Two people were killed in a wild elephants attack in Jhenaigati Upazila of bordering Sherpur district. They died in wild elephants attack in Gozni Darveshtala and Bakakura of Kangsha union of Jhenaigati Upazila at about 9 pm and 10:30 pm on Tuesday, May 20, within one and a half hour.
The victims are Azizur Raman Akash (40), son of late Abdul Hakim of Gandhigaon Darveshtala area of the upazila, and Ephelis Marak (45), son of Sohan Marak of Boro Gozni area.
Forest Department and local sources said, for the past few days, a herd of 30-40 wild elephants have been destroying various crops including boro paddy, jackfruit and litchi orchards in Gozni and its surrounding areas in Jhenaigati Upazila.
