Dhaka, Dec. 27 -- 148 tonnes of waste from Purbachal's July 36 Expressway has been cleared by Dhaka North City Corporation, where BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman attended a reception upon returning home after 17 years in exile.
In a statement on Friday, the DNCC said it used 20 trucks to remove the waste from the area and dump it at the Aminbazar landfill. A total of 350 DNCC staff conducted the cleaning operation from Friday morning.
The road was opened to traffic on Friday afternoon, the DNCC said.The BNP used the road as the venue to welcome back its de facto leader Tarqiue on Thursday.
