Dhaka, May 16 -- A total of 11 Bangladesh nationals returned to the country after serving various prison terms for illegal entry into India.

They were brought back through the Akhaura International Immigration Checkpost in Brahmanbaria on Thursday afternoon.

At the initiative of the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Tripura, and through the foreign and home ministries of both countries, they were handed over to their family members. Among the returnees was one woman.

This woman had left behind her five-year-old child and entered India nine months ago in search of work, where she was detained by Indian law enforcement authorities.
