Dhaka, June 22 -- At least 11 people lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Mymensingh on Friday evening, casting a pall of grief over the region just days after the Eid holidays.
The fatal incidents occurred on the Mymensingh-Haluaghat highway in Fulpur Upazila and Tarakanda Upazila.
The first and deadliest accident took place around 8:30 PM in the Indirapar area of Fulpur municipality.
A Dhaka-bound passenger bus operated by Shyamoli Bangla Paribahan collided head-on with a diesel-run Mahindra van traveling from Fulpur to Haluaghat.
Five people, including four men and one woman, were killed on the spot. The victims are the passengers of the Mahindra. Three more succumbed to their injuries later at the hospital.
