Dhaka, Feb. 24 -- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Monday said that nearly 1.7 million deceased voters were found in the voter list. He remarked that "they voted from the grave," highlighting how even the deceased were included in the voter list, which was beyond their expectations.
The CEC made the remarks while addressing a function organised by the Reporters Forum for Election and Democracy (RFED) at the Electoral Training Institute in the capital.
Regarding the local government elections, the chief election commissioner said holding local government elections before June is unlikely due to the ongoing voter list updating process.
