Dhaka, Sept. 20 -- Popular Indian singer Zubin Garg has passed away. He died in a scuba diving accident in Singapore. The singer was 52 years old at the time of his death.

Zubin was rescued from the sea on Friday afternoon local time and taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Hospital sources said he could not be saved due to the serious injuries he sustained in the accident.

Zubin Garg was equally popular in Assamese, Bengali and Hindi songs in India.

However, he is best known for the song 'Ya Ali' from the Bollywood film 'Gangster' (2006).

The song, composed by Pritam and written by Saeed Qadri, became very popular.
