Dhaka, May 19 -- Senior BNP leader Abdul Moyeen Khan has reaffirmed his party's call for the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh through a fair and credible election, stating it is essential for the country's future development.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, Moyeen Khan said that the current political environment lacks the democratic values envisioned during the Liberation War.
"The Awami League, which claims to be the key force behind the country's independence, has ironically undermined democracy - the very essence of our Liberation War," said Moyeen, a member of the BNP standing committee.
