Dhaka, Feb. 16 -- Nahid Islam, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and adviser to the interim government, is set to take charge of a new political party. He is expected to resign from his government position later this week.
Nagorik Committee Spokesperson Samantha Sharmin made this disclosure to a private TV channel on Sunday.
She said, "Adviser Nahid Islam may resign from the government this week to take charge of the new party."
In an interview, Citizen Committee Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam emphasised that their post-uprising party will not be centered around any individual but will operate democratically. Leadership will be entrusted to those who embody the spirit of the movement.
