Dhaka, Aug. 31 -- Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman has described the demand to ban the Jatiyo Party as "valid" and pledged to examine the legal grounds for such action.

Speaking on Saturday (30 August) after inaugurating a new regional office of the National University in Jhenaidah, he said, "The Jatiyo Party played with the people and supported the Awami League's repressive measures during controversial elections and even the July Uprising. Therefore, the call to ban the party is justified. I will review the legal framework to see what can be done."
