Dhaka, Nov. 12 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday warned that the government would have to take complete responsibility if any reforms are imposed unilaterally, beyond the areas where consensus has been reached.

"We have already agreed on certain reform issues, but if the government tries to enforce anything outside that consensus, it alone will have to bear the consequences," he said while addressing a gathering at Kismat Keshur Bari Laxmirhat High School ground in Borgaon Union under Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.

Speaking about the national election, Fakhrul cautioned that postponing the upcoming polls would push Bangladesh towards becoming a 'failed state'.
