Dhaka, June 14 -- The government is taking a major step toward boosting employment in the country through the establishment of a new Employment Department, according to Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain.
"The government has undertaken the initiative to establish a new employment department to enhance facilities in the labour market," the adviser said during a recent meeting with International Labour Organization (ILO) Director General Gilbert F. Houngbo in Geneva on Friday.During the meeting, Dr. Hussain sought technical assistance from the ILO to improve workplace safety and ensure proper implementation of labour laws across Bangladesh.
