Dhaka, Nov. 24 -- The Commonwealth remains deeply committed to supporting the people of Bangladesh in their pursuit of sustainable development, democratic resilience, and social progress, Commonwealth Secretary-General-designate Shirley Botchwey said during her latest remarks on Sunday on Bangladesh's role within the 56-nation bloc.

Botchwey, who will assume office as the first African woman to lead the organisation, stressed that Bangladesh continues to be an important and active member whose contributions to development, climate diplomacy, and peacekeeping reflect the spirit of cooperation that defines the Commonwealth.
