Srinagar, Feb. 28 -- Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, stated that the decision was taken in view of the prevailing cold weather conditions in the region.

Earlier, schools were scheduled to reopen on March 1, but the prolonged winter prompted authorities to extend the break. The move is aimed at ensuring the well-being of students amid the harsh weather.

The extension applies to all government and private schools in the Kashmir division.

Meanwhile, the authorities have extended winter vacation for all schools in the Gurez Valley of north Kashmir till March-8.

The decision comes in wake of heavy snowfall, and prevailing weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir.
