Srinagar, July 7 -- Doctors say the abrupt shift in routine, particularly for younger children, could trigger a range of mental and physical health issues.

"Sudden changes in any environment, especially for children, can lead to stress and anxiety," said Dr Mohammad Abrar Guroo, Consultant Psychiatrist. "This may show up as irritability, fatigue, poor concentration, mood swings, and tantrums."

He warned that the new timings risk depriving children of essential sleep, which plays a critical role in their emotional regulation, memory, and attention span. "Adolescents naturally tend to sleep later. Forcing them to wake up at 5 AM could lead to chronic sleep loss and long-term mental health effects," Dr Guroo said.
